What is the cheapest OTC hearing aid?
Audien from about $99 to $189 a pair, then MDHearing from about $200 to $600. These restore basic amplification cheaply but skip Bluetooth and apps. Filter to "Under $500" above.
Can AirPods Pro 2 really work as hearing aids?
Yes, since 2024 they include an FDA-cleared Hearing Aid feature with a built-in test, for mild to moderate loss. At ~$249 they are great value and the most discreet, with shorter battery life than dedicated aids.
Do they come with a trial?
Most do. Jabra Enhance runs a long 100-day trial; Sony, Sennheiser and others offer 45 days. Filter for "Long trial (60+ days)" if you want more time to adjust.
What happened to Eargo, Lexie and Go Hearing?
All three brands belong to LXE Hearing, which began winding down its US operations on 15 July 2026. None of the three sites sells anything now. Warranty and repair requests have to be in by 15 September 2026, customer service runs until 22 October 2026, and the Lexie app loses its cloud connection on 8 October 2026, after which the aids keep working on their last saved profile. They are off the table above because you cannot buy them new from the brand any more.
