Cheapest used treadmills on eBay, live right now.

Pick a model and see the lowest current prices on eBay. Treadmills are the machine people buy in January and want out of the spare room by autumn, so the used market is deep and the asking prices are all over the place. Prices are pulled live, so what you see is what sellers are actually asking this minute. Most are collection only, which is why they go cheap.

Ask for a video of it running at speed, not a photo of it standing still. Almost everything expensive that goes wrong with a treadmill is audible: a worn deck makes the belt hesitate under a footfall, a tired motor whines and slows on incline, and a stretched belt drifts to one side. None of that shows in a photograph of a folded machine in a garage. Ask the seller to walk on it at six miles an hour and raise the incline while filming. Then check the belt surface for a shiny centre strip, which means the deck under it is worn and the pair together cost real money, ask the motor's continuous horsepower rather than its peak, and on anything with a screen confirm what still works without a subscription.

How to buy a used treadmill

The deck and the belt are the whole game. Everything else on a treadmill is either cheap or lasts forever. The running deck is a board with a low-friction surface, the belt slides across it, and once that surface wears through, the motor works harder, the belt hesitates under each footfall and you are into a repair that often costs more than the machine is worth used. Look at the belt under a light: a shiny strip down the middle where the feet land means the deck below it is worn. Many decks can be flipped once, which buys years, so ask whether it already has been.

Continuous horsepower, not peak. Sellers quote peak because it is the bigger number. What matters is continuous duty, usually written CHP. Under 2.5 CHP is a walking machine whatever the box said. 3.0 CHP and up will take running by an adult without the motor heating up and shortening its own life. A 2.0 CHP motor pushed by a heavy runner is the second most common reason a cheap treadmill dies young.

Folding costs you something. A folding deck needs a hinge and a lift mechanism, and both are places a frame can flex under a runner. If the machine is going to live in one place, a non-folding frame is stiffer, quieter and usually cheaper used because it is harder to move. If it has to fold away, check the hydraulic lift actually holds it up rather than dropping the deck.

Assume collection only, and price that in. A treadmill is 250 to 350 pounds in an awkward shape, and almost nobody ships one. That is why the used prices look low next to retail: you are buying the machine and taking on the problem of moving it. Two people, a stair-climbing trolley and a measured doorway. Ask whether it separates or folds flat enough for the route in.

Check what dies without a subscription. The screen-first machines, Peloton Tread, NordicTrack with iFit, Echelon, are built around a monthly plan. Most still run in a basic manual mode without it, but the guided classes, the automatic incline changes and sometimes the metrics history do not. Buy one of these on the assumption that you will either pay the subscription or use it as a plain treadmill, and check which before you hand over money.

Commercial frames are the bargain nobody looks for. A gym-grade Life Fitness, Precor, Matrix or Landice is built for forty hours a week and sold on in bulk when a gym refits. They are heavier, less pretty and have no touchscreen, and they routinely go for less than a mid-range home machine of the same age because they are hard to move and look industrial in a spare room. If you have the space and the access, this is where the value is.

How many miles is too many on a used treadmill?

Most home treadmills are rated somewhere between 1,500 and 4,000 hours of motor life, and few sellers know the number. The belt and deck tell you more than any odometer: a shiny worn strip, a belt that hesitates when you step down, or a motor that changes pitch on incline all mean it has done real work. A commercial frame with high hours is often a better buy than a light home machine with low ones, because it was built to keep going.

Is a used treadmill worth it over a cheap new one?

Usually yes, and it is not close. A $500 new treadmill is a walking machine with a 2.0 CHP motor and a thin deck. $500 used buys a Sole F80 or a NordicTrack 1750 that cost three times that new, with a real motor and a flippable deck. The catch is entirely logistical: you have to go and get it.

Why are treadmills so cheap secondhand?

Because moving one is genuinely hard. They weigh 250 pounds or more, do not come apart, and will not go up a narrow staircase without two people and a plan. Sellers price for a quick collection rather than the machine's worth. That gap is the whole opportunity, and it is why the prices on this page look low against retail.

What should I test before handing over the money?

Run it. Walk at walking pace, then take it to six or seven miles an hour, then raise the incline to maximum and back down. You are listening for a whine or a slowdown from the motor, watching whether the belt tracks straight or drifts to one edge, and feeling for a hesitation under each footfall. Also fold and unfold it if it folds, and check the incline motor actually moves through its full range rather than sticking near the bottom.

Can a worn belt and deck be replaced?

Yes, and it is the repair worth knowing the price of. A belt is typically $80 to $150 and a deck $100 to $250, plus a couple of hours. On a $1,500 commercial frame that is a sensible refresh. On a $200 home machine it is more than the machine is worth, which is exactly why a worn belt should change what you offer rather than whether you buy.

Do walking pads count as treadmills?

They are a different product with a different job. A walking pad is 40 to 60 pounds, slides under a desk or a bed, tops out around four miles an hour and has no incline and no handrail. For walking while you work they are excellent and they ship in a box, which is why they are the one item in this category you can actually buy online without a van. They will not take running.

What is a fair price for a used treadmill?

The table above is the answer for the models we track, refreshed from live listings every day. As a rule of thumb, a three-year-old home treadmill sells for about a third of what it cost new, and a commercial frame for rather less than that relative to its original price, because the buyers who want one are fewer and the moving problem is bigger.

Cheapest by model, at a glance

Tap a price to see that model's cheapest listings on eBay, or tap a model name for the full live list here.

These are second hand prices, listed by sellers as used or pre-owned, taken from live eBay US listings in US dollars. In collectible categories a sealed or unworn item is sometimes the cheapest genuine listing, and it is included. The same number works both ways: it is what a buyer pays today and the resale value a seller can realistically ask. Every model also carries a price history, the daily record kept since tracking began, which is the part to read before you buy or resell. On a day when a model has no listing that passes these filters, its row keeps the last price we recorded rather than inventing one, and drops off this table if that goes on for more than a few days.

Under each model is the actual listing that price came from, so you can see whether it is the thing you want or a bundle, a variant, or an accessory that happens to share the name.

Over the period we have tracked, this category is up 0.6%, while the used market as a whole is down 0.3%. See the Used Price Index, which is built from these prices and published as a free CSV.
